Introduction: At a Loss with Lightroom

Welcome!

Have you used Lightroom yet? Lightroom has saved me countless blog photo editing hours over the years. Back in the olden days before Pinterest, our photography skills did not matter so much. You could snap a quick pic with your point-and-shoot, dark and shadow-y with the flash all a-blaze, and nobody would think twice about it.

Fast forward a few years, and wow, how times have changed. Visual social media platforms like Pinterest and Instagram have totally raised the blogging stakes. Nowadays bloggers are expected to produce magazine-worthy photography from the comfort of their own homes while handling approximately a quadrillion other blogging tasks.

Most of the bloggers I know are their own prop stylist, art director, creative director, photographer, graphic designer, website designer, advertising salesman, marketing department, public relations rep and Editor-in-Chief of their individual blogs. I could easily go on about the many hats that successful bloggers wear, but if you are taking this course you probably already understand the staggering amount of work that goes into producing a high-quality blog these days.

Unless you have the income to pay for teams of assistants, you are the sole mastermind behind a one-person online machine, armed with a Masters degree from Google and a Doctorate from the University of Youtube.

As a Lifestyle blogger who focuses on interior design and DIY, I have specific needs for my photography. I need to know how to make my Christmas tree look as pretty as possible so everyone will want to repin it for later. I need to know how to airbrush the dog hair off my sofa and the dust bunnies under my kitchen table, because Lord knows that doesn't always happen before I snap the photo. My recipes need to look appetizing and my travel photos have to be breathtaking. My sponsors pay me nicely to make their products look as appealing as possible in my blog posts so that readers will click over to purchase. Tons of repins result in blog traffic which brings in more ad revenue.

If you are an online content creator, excellent photography is a requirement. Over 100 million people actively use Pinterest to search for ideas, but we are the ones who fill Pinterest with all those pretty pictures.

This workshop breaks down each step of the process to show you exactly how to best utilize Lightroom for your blog photos. You'll not only learn how to save tons of time by batch editing, resizing and watermarking your blogs pictures with a few simple clicks, but you'll also learn quick and easy ways to make your photos stand out in today's competitive blogging environment.

I was honored to teach a Lightroom editing class to hundreds of DIY and Design bloggers at The Haven Conference in both 2014 and 2016. At one point during my recent classes the entire room erupted in applause at one simple tip I showed them. These little tricks can help you avoid hours of frustration with photo editing.

Just wait until you see how that graduated filter can change your life, too!

One of the best compliments I heard while teaching my Lightroom class was "Your session alone was worth the price of the entire conference!" That was such an amazing confidence boost! After each session the overwhelming response was "Where can I buy your e-book?"

So, it's finally here. I'd like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who encouraged me to teach this online course. I love our blogging community so very much.

Are you as excited as I am? Let's get started.
